Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
*Taking Clients August 2026
Courtney Orr is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), graduate of Yorkville University’s Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program, and a proud Carleton University alumna with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Courtney is passionate about creating a therapy space that feels warm, authentic, and genuinely human. Having navigated her own transitions and life changes, she understands that growth is rarely linear and that most people are simply doing their best with the tools they have. This perspective shapes her approach to therapy, allowing her to connect with clients in a way that is compassionate, relatable, and free from judgment.
She believes therapy doesn’t have to feel rigid or intimidating. While maintaining professionalism and evidence-based practice, Courtney strives to create an environment where clients can show up exactly as they are. Whether that means coming to session in cozy clothes, bringing a favourite snack, or reaching for a fidget toy during a difficult conversation, she wants clients to feel comfortable enough to be themselves. Therapy is challenging work, and Courtney believes comfort and connection can make that work feel a little more manageable.
Courtney’s therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths-based, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). She views clients as the experts in their own lives and sees her role as walking alongside them while they navigate challenges, build self-awareness, and create meaningful change. Rather than focusing solely on symptom management, Courtney works with clients to better understand themselves, identify their strengths, and move toward the life they want to build. Courtney aims to provide a safe and supportive space where they feel heard, understood, and empowered.
Courtney works with adults and young adults (typically 16+). She enjoys supporting clients who are navigating anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, self-esteem concerns, substance use challenges, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. She is especially passionate about working with individuals who are exploring identity, building confidence, and trying to better understand themselves. Courtney also enjoys supporting clients who feel “stuck” or overwhelmed and are looking for a space to slow down, reflect, and begin making meaningful changes at their own pace.
A Few Fun Facts About Courtney
- There is a very good chance she will arrive to session with an iced coffee in hand.
- She loves Pilates and values movement as an important part of overall wellness.

Matthew (Matt) Kennedy
Registered Psychotherapist
* Currently accepting clients
Matthew (Matt) Kennedy, M.A., R.P. (he/him) brings over 15 years of experience in the mental health and addictions field, working with individuals navigating trauma, emotional dysregulation, and the kinds of experiences that don't always respond to conventional talk therapy.
Matt's work is grounded in neuropsychotherapy, an approach that treats the nervous system as the foundation of emotional and psychological health. Rather than starting with thoughts and working down, he starts with the body and works up. This means helping clients shift out of physiological states that keep them stuck before doing the deeper processing work.
To do this, Matt draws on a focused set of specialized modalities. He is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a structured eye-movement approach that helps clients process distressing memories without having to verbally relive them. He is also trained in Tholáge® Neuropsychotherapy, a somatic approach that targets suppressed and avoided emotional experiences, particularly useful for clients who feel like something is unresolved but can't quite reach it through talking alone. Matt is a Certified HeartMath® Trauma-Sensitive Practitioner, using HRV biofeedback to build emotional regulation and physiological resilience.
Matt works directly with the nervous system as part of his clinical approach, using vagus nerve stimulation to help clients access states that support processing and change. In-person clients can also benefit from Clinical Vagal Stim Therapy delivered through the Dolphin Neurostim microcurrent device.
Matt is known for his warmth, directness, and a well-timed dad joke. He believes that tough therapeutic work and laughter aren't mutually exclusive, and that feeling comfortable in the room matters as much as the work itself.

A Few Fun Facts About Matt
- He trains in Goju Ryu Karate and Okinawan Kobudo.
- He is a New York sports fan, cheering on the Rangers, Knicks, Yankees, and Giants.
- He has a love for rock music spanning the 50s through the 90s.

Tianna Garrett
Registered Psychotherapist (Q)
*Taking clients August 2026
Tianna is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at The Compassion Clinic, a Yorkville University graduate of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program, and holds a BA in Sociology from Trent University. She completed her clinical internship at Queen's University Student Wellness Services, where she worked with a diverse student population navigating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, identity, and life transitions. Passionate about creating a therapy space that feels warm, real, and genuinely human, she believes the therapeutic relationship is not just part of the process, it is the process. Before any technique or framework, she is oriented toward the person in front of her, building safety first and never rushing it. You will not leave sessions with a stack of homework and a pamphlet. You will leave feeling seen.
Tianna started her Master's exactly 10 years after completing her undergrad, and she will be the first to tell you those 10 years were not a detour. They were the education. Life happened in that decade, and it shaped the kind of therapist and human she is today. She is a mom, a partner, and a devoted dog and cat mom in a household that keeps her on her toes. She is a firm believer in accepting all the pieces of yourself, even the ones that are hard to say out loud. Drawing on DBT and IFS alongside her person-centred foundation, Tianna’s work is strengths-based, and nothing makes her happier than helping people see what they are already doing right, even when they cannot see it themselves just yet.
She works with ages 13 and up and offers individual counselling. She enjoys supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, perfectionism, life transitions, relational stress, and identity. She has a particular interest in perinatal mental health and understands firsthand the beautiful, overwhelming, identity-shifting chaos that comes with motherhood. She also has a soft spot for clients who feel stuck, hard on themselves, or quietly exhausted by holding it all together, and are ready for a space to slow down and figure out what they actually need.
Fun Facts About Tianna
- She loves hiking and will take any excuse to be outside
- She will never, and I mean never, give up her skinny jeans
- She would lose her head if it wasn't attached. Don't believe her? Ask her where her keys are.

Joshua Hulley-Carroll is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist who believes that therapy should feel like a conversation with someone who genuinely cares, not a clinical checklist or interrogation. His approach is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth, grounded in the belief that every person already possesses incredible strength and resilience. Sometimes, it just takes the right person to help them uncover it.
Josh earned his Master of Social Work Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and his Bachelor of Arts, Honours, Degree in Psychology from Carleton University. For nearly a decade, he has worked with children, youth, adults, couples, and families across a wide range of settings, including private practice, crisis intervention with police services, hospital-based mental health, emergency and intensive care, as well as school boards in both Ottawa and Kingston, providing therapy and mental health support to children, adolescents, families and staff. He also teaches and supervises other helping professionals in developing their therapeutic skills, reflecting his passion for advancing high-quality, client centred, mental health care.
Throughout his career, Joshua has completed extensive training in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Rather than believing one modality is the answer for everyone, however, he draws from a broad range of knowledge and experience to tailor therapy to each individual. His focus isn’t on fitting clients into a particular model, rather, he aims to deeply understand his clients so that he can provide support that will genuinely help them.
Josh has a particular passion for working with youth and young adults, OCD, neurodivergence (including ADHD and autism), anxiety, depression and mood concerns, men’s mental health issues and positive masculinity, couples, communication and relationship dynamics, and sport and performance psychotherapy. Whether someone is navigating a difficult life transition, feeling overwhelmed, lost, and alone, or struggling in their relationships, or simply wanting to better understand and better themselves, his goal is to create a space where they feel heard, understood, seen, and supported.
He firmly believes that clients are the experts in their own lives. His role is to bring curiosity, compassion, practical tools, and a fresh perspective while working alongside them to build on the strengths they already possess. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” people, it’s about helping them recognize their own capacity for growth and equipping them with the skills and confidence to create meaningful, lasting change.
A Few Fun Facts About Josh:
- He is a lifelong storyteller and creative who enjoys photography and videography as a way of capturing meaningful moments and human connection.
- Before becoming a therapist, he raced in professional road cycling races

*Accepting Clients August 2026!
Some of the most meaningful conversations begin with someone saying, "I've never told anyone this before." Throughout her life, Denisha has found herself in that position, not because she has all the answers, but because people have often trusted her with the parts of their story they never thought they would share, simply because she took the time to truly listen.
As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Denisha believes people make sense. Every person has a story, and rather than focusing on what's "wrong," she believes in taking the time to understand what has shaped the person sitting in front of her and recognizes that no single therapeutic approach fits everyone.
Denisha holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, a Bachelor of Arts in Childhood and Youth Studies with a minor in Psychology, and a Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health. She supports survivors of sexual violence through Sexual Assault Centre Kingston and continues to work with young people involved in the youth justice system, many of whom navigate complex emotional, behavioural, and relational challenges.
She works with children (8+), adolescents, and adults, drawing from person-centred, attachment-informed, narrative, emotionally focused, and trauma-informed approaches. For Denisha, meaningful therapy begins the moment someone feels understood, and continue to show up exactly as they are.
Once clients get to know her, they often discover that alongside her calm nature is a warm, bubbly personality, a playful sense of humour, and the reassurance that therapy doesn't always have to feel heavy.

A Few Fun Facts About Denisha:
